Returning to the studio for the first time in more than two years, 'Murder By Misadventure' represents both a bold departure from 2015's 'Witches Ep', yet more of the same hard, mythological garage-flavoured blues that people knew and loved previous band, DEAF YETi for.

Pyre Peyote make for a fearsome creature: Backed by Robin VVolf on vocals, returning bassist, Nico Rigot and Perry Rogantin on drums, Dodd's new rotating outfit is full of sound, fury and a love for sincere, full-bodied volume. By turns snarling and psychotic; at times brooding, tender and melancholy, there's humour as well as remorse here. On title track, 'MBM' the band channels legendary picker Robert Johnson and contemporary blues outfits - the likes of Jack White's Dead Weather, Ty Segal's Fuzz and The Black Keys - before turning his hand to a more stripped back, reverential tone with acoustic b-side, 'Darkside Hymn'.

Despite a dual nature, the Ep manages to find closure between layers of noise and its wider, open spaces. Murder By Misadventure is perhaps a coming-to-terms then and - if we hold out hope - a burning sigil of things to come.
